The Becoming & The Closure

THE MUSIC

As I write this, the song is nearly complete—I’ve written everything except the bridge and a few final lyrics for The Beginning. It feels like the right moment to bring it beyond myself and into the room with other musicians.

I’ve been deep in the details—shaping the instrumentation, refining the arrangement, and now committing to studio time. That alone has lit a fire. There’s something about putting a date on the calendar that turns inspiration into obligation—in the very best way. By my studio date in June, it all needs to be fully realized.

I’ve been on the road for the last few weeks, and I think that has helped. Stepping away always does. When you come back with fresh ears, you hear what matters—and what doesn’t—so much more clearly.

I’ll be home for a bit now, and that will give me time to let the song develop and bring it across the finish line.

I’m still exploring a few directions for the bridge—feeling my way through what wants to happen. But I can already hear it. That’s everything. Once it’s in your head, it’s just a matter of pulling it out into the world.

And maybe the best sign of all—I catch myself singing it at unexpected moments. It’s already living with me, evolving in real time… and I haven’t even recorded it yet.

I love that.

THE WINE

We followed what felt right… and found something better.

While in Rioja, Spain—building one of our Adventures—Mindi and I came across a bottle that caught our attention. It wasn’t the label, and it wasn’t the wine. It was the finish. A hand-dipped wax top paired with a simple neck band. It had a distinctly handcrafted feel and it stayed with us, enough to make us wonder if this was the direction we should take.

So we explored it. We sourced the proper white wax, invested in the right equipment, and took the time to understand the process. Then we began—testing, adjusting, refining. Bottle after bottle, attempt after attempt, chasing that same balance of effortlessness and control we had seen. But what we found was something else. Inconsistency. Drips that distracted and edges that lacked precision. We kept going—well over a hundred times—dialing in every variable we could, trying to make it right.

And eventually, the answer revealed itself.

It wasn’t Whiteboard.

Because Whiteboard isn’t about approximation. It’s about precision and intentionality—every detail considered. If it couldn’t be perfect, it wasn’t right for us.

So we stepped away—and in doing so, found the right direction. We turned to a thick tin capsule, not as a default, but as a deliberate decision to pursue the highest level of finish possible. That path led us to a luxury capsule company in France, where everything is in the pursuit of wine-excellence. From there, it became a process of true refinement. We sent materials overseas—paper samples, exact color references—and worked closely, step by step, until the white was not just white, but our white. Every detail considered. Every element aligned.

What came back is exactly what Whiteboard demanded. A clean, perfectly matched high-quality tin capsule, finished with our W mark—quietly placed, exactly where it belongs, on top. No excess, just precision.

Because in the end, what feels right isn’t always where you stay… but it’s often what leads you to something better. And for us, the pursuit of perfect isn’t a single decision—it’s a process we commit to, again and again.
